Removing the palm-rest assembly

Prerequisites

  1. Follow the procedure in Before working inside your computer.
  2. Remove the base cover.
  3. Remove the WWAN card for computers enabled with 4G LTE.
  4. Remove the 3-cell battery.
  5. Remove the keyboard.
  6. Remove the display assembly.
  7. Remove the system board.
  8. Remove the speakers.

About this task

NOTE:The palm-rest assembly cannot be further disassembled once all of the pre-removal parts procedures are completed. If the touchpad frame, touchpad support bracket, touchpad mylar, touchpad module, touchpad FFC, conductive tape, or thermal pad are malfunctioning and need to be replaced, replace the entire palm-rest assembly.
