At the end of each database backup, the
Avamar Plug-in for Oracle performs a final step to group backup pieces into a consolidated backup.
If a backup fails in the final consolidation step, the backup becomes a hidden backup, which cannot be searched for and restored from Avamar Administrator. At the moment of this backup failure, the
Avamar Plug-in for Oracle displays the following error message:
Failed to create the snapview. However, the database data has been successfully backed up and is marked as a hidden backup. Restore is available through CLI only. See the plug-in documentation for information about restoring hidden backups.
It is recommended that you perform an immediate full database backup after the backup failure.
Although the backup label does not display in the Avamar Administrator window, the
Avamar Plug-in for Oracle performs a proper backup of the database data. To view information on hidden backups, you must use the following command:
