Adding a new node to an Oracle RAC configuration

Add a node to an Oracle RAC configuration by running AvamarRACConfiguration.exe on any one node.

Steps

  1. Stop EMCagent from the Command Prompt by typing one of the following commands:
    • For Oracle 11g R1, type the following command:

      crs_stop EMCagent

    • For Oracle 11g R2, type the following command:

      crsctl stop resource EMCagent

  2. Use Avamar Administrator to deactivate the registered Oracle RAC client:
    1. In Avamar Administrator, click the Policy launcher link button.
      The Policy window appears.
    2. Click the Policy Management tab.
    3. Click the Clients tab.
    4. Select the client from the table.
    5. Select Actions > Client > Edit Client.
      The Edit Client dialog box appears.
    6. Click the Properties tab.
    7. Clear the Activated checkbox.
  3. Run AvamarRACConfiguration.exe on any one node.
    The Cluster Configured Node section displays all configured nodes.

    The Oracle RAC Parameters, Logs/ Var Folder, and Registration group boxes are disabled when you add a new node to a cluster configuration.

  4. Select a node from the Available Nodes group box.
    To select multiple entries, press and hold the Ctrl key while you select entries with the mouse.
  5. After you add the node to the configuration, start the EMCagent on any Clusterware node:
    • For Oracle 11g R1, type the following command:

      crs_start EMCagent

    • For Oracle 11g R2, type the following command:

      crsctl start resource EMCagent
