Dell APEX Navigator for Multicloud Storage Using Your Service

Setting up Application Hosts to Access Dell APEX Block Storage for AWS

To access Dell APEX Block Storage for AWS for I/O operations, you must have compute instances for your applications, install PowerFlex Storage Data Client (SDC) device driver on them, and configure volumes. SDC allows those instances to access data served Dell APEX Block Storage for AWS clusters.

The SDC is a client-side software component that can run natively on Windows, Linux, IBM AIX, ESXi, and other operating systems. The hosts that are consuming storage must run the lightweight SDC device driver component.

Clients that use the SDC component (up to 2048 SDCs per cluster) use a small (megabytes only) in-memory metadata map to know exactly where their data resides on the cluster. Centralized metadata lookups are not performed for each I/O to optimize the performance of storage controllers.
