Enable PowerFlex to use the attached IP as a storage data target

To prepare for data mobility, configure the storage data target (SDT) on the deployed PowerFlex system with routable IP.

Steps

  1. Log in to the PowerFlex Element Manager.
  2. Go to Block > NVMe Targets.
Each SDT has an IP address from the nonroutable IPs assigned in the deployment phase.
  3. Select the first SDT and click Modify.
  4. In the Modify NVMe target window, change the current private IP Role to Storage Only.
  5. Click Add Target IP.
  6. Insert the IP attached to that instance in AWS.
  7. Assign the IP the role of Host Only.
  8. Click Modify NVMe Target.
  9. Repeat this process for all the SDTs.

Results

All the SDTs on the PowerFlex installations that are deployed on AWS are routable from the on-premises PowerFlex system. The NVMe over TCP traffic now flows between the on-premises and AWS PowerFlex system.
