When you deploy either Dell APEX Block Storage for AWS or Dell APEX File Storage for AWS, you must select an SCG subnet if you choose an existing virtual private cloud (VPC).

Prerequisites

To deploy Dell APEX storage endpoints successfully, you must set the following network configuration for the SCG subnet:

Steps

  1. Update the permissions policy.
    • If your AWS account is already onboarded in Dell APEX Navigator, to ensure SCG validations, update the permissions policy in your AWS account to include the following permissions: ec2:DescribeRouteTables

This is used to check if the route table present in the selected VPC has a route for the Internet gateway.

    • If your AWS account is not onboarded in Dell APEX Navigator, proceed to the next step.
  2. Enable the Internet gateway and route table:
    • Ensure that the Internet gateway  is present in the selected existing VPC where the storage system is going to be deployed.
    • Ensure that  a route table  is present in the SCG subnet along with  a  route to the Internet gateway for outbound Internet traffic.
