Removing the audio and ethernet daughterboard (FFC)

Prerequisites

  1. Follow the procedure in Before working inside your computer.
  2. Remove the base cover.

About this task

The following images indicate the location of the audio and ethernet daughterboard and provide a visual representation of the removal procedure.

NOTE The audio and ethernet daughterboard features a flexible flat cable (FFC).

Steps

  1. Lift the system board Mylar and open the latch to disconnect the flexible flat cable from the system board.
  2. Open the latch to disconnect the flexible flat cable from the audio and ethernet daughterboard.
  3. Remove the screw (M2x4) that secures the audio and ethernet daughterboard to the palm-rest and keyboard assembly.
    NOTE If the computer is shipped with the NVIDIA GeForce RTX 3050 Ti discrete GPU controller, there are two screws (M2x4) that secure the audio and ethernet daughterboard to the palm-rest and keyboard assembly. Remove the two screws (M2x4) and go to step 5.
  4. Loosen the captive screw (M2x2) that secures the audio and ethernet daughterboard to the palm-rest and keyboard assembly.
    NOTE If your computer is shipped with the NVIDIA GeForce RTX 3050 Ti discrete GPU controller, skip this step and go to step 5.
  5. Lift the audio and ethernet daughterboard off the palm-rest and keyboard assembly.
