Procedure

  1. Disconnect the left fan cable from the system board.
  2. Disconnect the right fan cable from the system board.
  3. Remove the five screws (M2x3) that secure the heat-sink assembly to the system board.
  4. Remove the screw (M2x5) that secure the heat-sink assembly to the system board.
  5. In the reverse sequential order (7>6>5>4>3>2>1), loosen the seven captive screws that secure the heat-sink assembly to the system board.
  6. Lift the heat-sink assembly off the system board.Image: Removing the heat-sink assembly
  7. Remove the fans.
