Removing the speakers

Prerequisites

  1. Follow the procedure in Before working inside your computer.
  2. Remove the base cover.
  3. Remove the battery.
  4. Remove the solid-state drive from M.2 slot two.
  5. Follow the procedure from step 1 to step 4 in Removing the hard drive, if applicable.
  6. Remove the solid-state drive from M.2 slot three, if applicable.
  7. Remove the solid-state drive from M.2 slot four, if applicable.
  8. Remove the solid-state drive interposer board, if applicable.

Steps

  1. Disconnect the speaker cable from the audio daughter-board.
  2. Using the tab on the right speaker, slightly pull the speaker upwards to release the speaker from the palm-rest assembly.
  3. Slide the right speaker in a clockwise direction to remove the right speaker from the computer.
  4. Note the speaker cable routing and remove the speaker cable from the routing guides on the palm-rest assembly and the touchpad bracket.
  5. Using the tab on the left speaker, slightly pull the speaker upwards to release the speaker from the palm-rest assembly.
  6. Slide the left speaker in a clockwise direction to remove the right speaker from the computer.
