Installing A GPU Card

  • CAUTION: Many repairs may only be done by a certified service technician. You should only perform troubleshooting and simple repairs as authorized in your product documentation, or as directed by the online or telephone service and support team. Damage due to servicing that is not authorized by Dell is not covered by your warranty. Read and follow the safety instructions that came with the product.
  • NOTE: Ensure that the GPU card is installed in the x16 slot.
  1. Turn off the system, including any attached peripherals, and disconnect the system from the electrical outlet and peripherals.
  2. Lay the system on its side.
  3. Open the system.
  4. Remove the PCIe card holder.
  5. Open the two PCIe card latches.
  6. Remove the filler brackets.
  7. Locate the x16 slot on the system board.
  8. Insert the GPU card into the slot.
  9. Connect the cables to the GPU card.
  10. Close the two PCIe card latches.
  11. Replace the PCIe card holder.
  12. Close the system.
  13. Place the system upright.
  14. Reconnect the system to its electrical outlet and turn the system on, including any attached peripherals.
