PDF

Using the PowerFlex SCLI tool

Use this procedure to disable the persistent checksum using the command-line interface.

Prerequisites

You will need the following information:

  • IP address of the primary MDM
  • Valid credentials for the PowerFlex cluster
  • Names of the protection domains to be worked on
  • Names of the storage pools to be modified

Steps

  1. SSH to the primary MDMs IP address or hostname (see other reference point for determining the primary MDM).
  2. Log in to the MDM cluster using the provided credentials, type: scli --login --username admin --password <password>.
  3. Disable the background device scanner, type: scli --disable_background_device_scanner --protection_domain_name <PD> --storage_pool_name <SP>.
  4. Disable the persistent checksum, type: scli --disable_persistent_checksum --protection_domain_name <PD> --storage_pool_name <SP>
  5. Verify that the checksum is disabled, and that the background device scanner has not been reenabled, type: scli --query_storage_pool --protection_domain_name <PD> --storage_pool_name <SP> | grep -I -e persistent -e background.
  6. Reenable the background device scanner (if wanted), type: scli --enable_background_device_scanner --protection_domain_name <PD> --storage_pool_name <SP> --read_error_action report_and_fix --compare_error_action report_and_fix.
  7. Verify again if wanted, type: scli --query_storage_pool --protection_domain_name <PD> --storage_pool_name <SP> | grep -i -e persistent -e background.
