Deploy the CloudLink Center

Use this procedure to deploy a CloudLink Center. Although PowerFlex Manager supports up to three instances of CloudLink Center, two are recommended.

Prerequisites

Ensure the following:
  • Hypervisor management or PowerFlex management networks are added to PowerFlex Manager
  • A VMware vCenter with a valid data center, cluster, network, and datastore is discovered.

Steps

  1. From the PowerFlex Manager menu, click Templates > Sample Templates.
  2. On the Sample Templates page, click Management - CloudLink Center > Clone.
  3. In the Clone Template wizard, do the following:
    1. Enter a template name.
    2. From the Template Category list, select a template category. To create a category, select Create New Category from the list.
    3. Enter a Template Description (optional).
    4. To specify the version to use for compliance, select the version from the Firmware and Software Compliance list or choose Use PowerFlex Manager appliance default catalog.
    5. Specify the service permissions for this template under Who should have access to the service deployed from this template?:
      • To restrict access to administrators, select Only PowerFlex Manager Administrators.
      • To grant access to administrators and specific standard users, select PowerFlex Manager Administrators and Specific Standard and Operator Users and perform the following steps:
        1. Click Add User(s) to add one more standard or operator users to the list.
        2. To remove a standard or operator user from the list, select the user and click Remove User(s).
        3. After adding the standard and or operator users, select or clear the check box next to the standard or operator users to grant or block access to use this template.
      • To grant access to administrators and all standard users, select PowerFlex Manager Administrators and All Standard and Operator Users.
    6. Click Next.
  4. On the Additional Settings page, do the following:
    1. Under Network Settings, select Hypervisor Network.
    2. Under OS Settings, select CLC credential or create a credential with root or CloudLink user by clicking +.
    3. Under Cloudlink Settings, do the following:
      1. Select the secadmin credential from the list or create a secadmin credential by clicking + and do the following:
        1. Enter Credential Name
        2. Enter User Name as secadmin
        3. Leave the Domain empty.
        4. Enter the password for secadmin in Password and Confirm Password.
        5. Select V2 in SNMP Type.
        6. Click Save.
      2. Select a license file from the list based on the types of drives or click + to upload a license through the Add Software License page.
        NOTE:For SSD/NVMe drives, upload a capacity-based license. For SED drives, upload an SED-based license.
    4. Under Cluster Settings, select Management vCenter.
    5. Click Finish.
  5. Select the VMware Cluster and click Edit > Continue.
    1. Under Cluster Settings, select Datacenter Name, and then select Cluster Name from the drop-down list.
    2. Under vSphere Network Settings, select the hypervisor management port group.
      NOTE:Edit the template to use the PowerFlex management port group.
    3. Click Save.
      NOTE:To deploy a CloudLink Center from PowerFlex Manager, you need a Management vCenter, Datacenter, and Cluster along with DvSwitch port groups for PowerFlex management or hypervisor management.
  6. Select the VM and click Edit > Continue (by default, the number of CloudLink instances is two and PowerFlex Manager supports up to three instances).
    1. Under VM Settings select the Datastore and Network from the drop-down list.
    2. Under Cloudlink Settings select the following:
      1. For Host Name Selection, either select Specify At Deployment Time to manually enter at deployment time or Auto Generate to have PowerFlex Manager generate the name.
      2. Enter the vault passwords.
      NOTE:Other details such as operating system credentials, NTP, and secadmin credentials are auto populated.
  7. Under Additional Cloudlink Settings, you can choose either or both of the following settings:
    • Configure Syslog Forwarding
      1. Select the check box to configure syslog forwarding.
      2. For Syslog Facility, select the syslog remote server from the list.
    • Configure Email Notifications
      1. Select the check box to configure email alerts.
      2. Specify the IP address of the email server.
      3. Specify the port number for the email server. The default port is 25. Enter the port numbers in a comma-separated list, with values between 1-65535.
      4. Specify the email address for the sender.
      5. Specify the required username and password.
  8. Click Save.
  9. Click Publish Template and click Yes to confirm.
  10. In the Deploy Service wizard, do the following:
    1. Select the published template from the drop-down list, and enter Service Name and description.
    2. Select who should have the access to the service and click Next.
    3. Provide Hostname and click Next.
    4. Select Deploy Now or Schedule deployment and click Next.
    5. Review the details in Summary page and click Finish.
