Configure LACP bonding NIC port design network settings in PowerFlex Manager templates

Perform this procedure to configure network settings in PowerFlex Manager for LACP bonding NIC port design. This design supports up to four storage networks.

About this task

A minimum of two logical data networks are supported. Optionally, you can configure four logical data networks.

NOTE:The number of data networks in the MDM cluster must match the number of data networks in the template.

If the customer chooses two logical data networks in the Logical Configuration Survey, select only two data networks (flex-data1 and flex-data2) during the template creation process.

Steps

  1. Clone the template:
    1. On the PowerFlex Manager menu bar, click Templates and click Add a Template.
    2. In the Add a Template wizard, click Clone an existing PowerFlex Manager template.
    3. From the Category list, select Sample Templates.
    4. From the Template to be Cloned list, select the template that matches the service you want to deploy. Click Next.
    5. On the Template Information page, enter the template name. Select Create New Category from the Template Category list.
    6. Enter Prod in the New Category Name and specify the Firmware and Software Compliance and specify the service permissions for the template under Who should have access to the service deployed from this template. Click Next.
    7. On the Additional Settings page, provide new values for network settings, operating system settings, cluster settings, PowerFlex gateway settings, and node pool settings.
    8. Click Finish. The cloned template is added to the list on the Templates page.
  2. Click the cloned template.
  3. Click the node icon and click Edit.
  4. Verify the number of nodes to deploy and click Continue.
  5. For PowerFlex compute-only nodes, edit the parameters for the network configuration as follows:
    1. Under OS Settings > Switch Port Configuration, select Port Channel (LACP enabled).
    2. Under Network Settings > Interfaces, enter the following details:
NOTE: For a multi-subnet or multi-VLAN configuration, manually add all the networks (including same-VLAN or multi-VLAN networks) that belongs to the appropriate interface.
      • Interface 1 > Port 1 > Network (VLAN): flex-install-<vlanid>, flex-node-mgmt-<vlanid>, flex-vmotion-<vlanid>, flex-oob-mgmt-<vlanid>
      • Interface 1 > Port 2 > Network (VLAN): data network1, data network2, data network3, data network4
      • Interface 2 > Port 1 > Network (VLAN): flex-install-<vlanid>, flex-node-mgmt-<vlanid>, flex-vmotion-<vlanid>, flex-oob-mgmt-<vlanid>
NOTE: For a multi-subnet or multi-VLAN configuration, ensure to add all the networks for each required network type.
      • Interface 2 > Port 2 > Network (VLAN): data network1, data network2, data network3, data network4
      NOTE:For Linux compute-only, assign a general-purpose VLAN network on Port 1; do not use flex-node-mgmt-<vlanid>, flex-install-<vlanid>.
  6. For PowerFlex hyperconverged nodes, edit the parameters for the network configuration as follows:
      • Interface 1 > Port 1 > Network (VLAN): flex-install-<vlanid>, flex-node-mgmt-<vlanid>, flex-stor-mgmt-<vlanid>, flex-vmotion-<vlanid>, flex-oob-mgmt-<vlanid>
      • Interface 1 > Port 2 > Network (VLAN): data network1, data network2, data network3, data network4
      • Interface 2 > Port 1 > Network (VLAN): flex-install-<vlanid>, flex-node-mgmt-<vlanid>, flex-stor-mgmt-<vlanid>, flex-vmotion-<vlanid>, flex-oob-mgmt-<vlanid>
      • Interface 2 > Port 2 > Network (VLAN): storage data network1, storage data network2, storage data network3, storage data network4
  7. For PowerFlex storage-only nodes, edit the parameters for the network configuration as follows:
      • Interface 1 > Port 1 > Network (VLAN): flex-install-<vlanid>, flex-stor-mgmt-<vlanid>, flex-data1-<vlanid>, flex-data3-<vlanid> (if required), flex-rep1-<vlanid> (optional), flex-oob-mgmt-<vlanid>
      • Interface 1 > Port 2 > Network (VLAN): data network2, data network4, and flex-rep2-<vlanid>(optional)
      • Interface 2 > Port 1 > Network (VLAN): flex-install-<vlanid>, flex-stor-mgmt-<vlanid>, flex-data1-<vlanid>, data network1, data network3, flex-rep1-<vlanid> (optional), flex-oob-mgmt-<vlanid>
      • Interface 2 > Port 2 > Network (VLAN): data network2, data network4, flex-rep2-<vlanid> (optional)
