Changing the Light Installation Agent password

Light Installation Agent (LIA) establishes trust with the Installation Manager through a configurable token. The LIA token is stored in /opt/emc/scaleio/lia/cfg/conf.txt on each SVM. The password is set at initial installation.

About this task

During installation, the IM password and the LIA token are stored in hashed format.

Prerequisites

To change the token after LIA runs, you must change the line in the configuration file and restart LIA.

Steps

  1. Open the conf.txt LIA file (/opt/emc/scaleio/lia/cfg/).
  2. Delete the lia_token hashed string.
  3. Enter a new lia_token string in plaintext.

For security reasons, Dell EMC recommends using the following complexity: password length 6 to 31 characters, and include at least three of the following groups: [a-z], [A-Z], [0-9], and special characters (!@#$...). Blank spaces are not enabled.

  4. Save your changes and restart the LIA service.
    1. Go to /opt/emc/scaleio/lia/bin/.
    2. Run delete_service.sh.
    3. Run create_service.sh.

This rehashes the new plaintext string.
