PowerFlex user-defined accounts

You can add extra user accounts to the PowerFlex MDM. You must assign a user role.

Adding a user

To add a user:
  1. Use SSH to log in as root user.
  2. Type the following command: # scli --login --username admin
  3. Type the following command: scli --add_user --username <NAME> --user_role <Monitor|Configure|Administrator>

You can use the PowerFlex FOSGWTool to add users to the gateway, type: FOSGWTool.sh --set_mdm_credentials --mdm_user <USER> --mdm_password <PASSWORD> [--create_default_lockbox].

The following table provides the description and parameters for using the PowerFlex FOSGWTool:
Description Parameters
Saves MDM user credentials in a LockBox. By default, the tool creates a LockBox unless explicitly noted.

--mdm_user—Sets the MDM user.

--mdm_password—Sets the MDM password.

--create_default_lockbox—Creates lockbox with a random passphrase unless it exists.

Modifying a user

To modify a user:
  1. Use SSH to log in as root user.
  2. Type the following command: # scli --login --username admin
  3. Type the following command: scli --modify_user --username <NAME> --user_role <Monitor|Configure|Administrator> .

Deleting a user

To delete a user:
  1. Use SSH to log in as root user.
  2. Type the following command: # scli --login --username admin
  3. Type the following command: scli --delete_user --username <NAME>

Displaying users and roles

To display users and roles:
  1. Use SSH to log in as root user.
  2. Type the following command: # scli --login --username admin
  3. Type the following command: scli --query_users
  4. Type the following command: scli --query_user --user_id <ID> | --username <NAME>

Generating a hashed password

To generate a hashed password for an MDM user on the PowerFlex Gateway, type the following command:

im generate_mdm_password --mdm_password <PASSWORD> --config_file /opt/emc/scaleio/gateway/webapps/ROOT/WEB-INF/classes/gatewayUser.properties file.
