Managing components with PowerFlex Manager

Once PowerFlex Manager is configured, you can use it to perform the ongoing tasks necessary to manage your PowerFlex rack.

The following table describes typical tasks for managing PowerFlex rack components and what steps to take in PowerFlex Manager to initiate each:

If you want to... Do this in PowerFlex Manager...
View network topology
  1. Click Services.
  2. On the Services page, select a service.
  3. On the Details page, click the Port View tab.
Run inventory (PowerFlex nodes, switches, PowerFlex gateway, and VMware vCenter cluster).
  1. Click Resources and click the All Resources tab.
  2. Click the check box for the resource you want to update and then click Run Inventory.
  3. After running the inventory, click Update Service Details on the Services page for any service that requires the updated resource data.

If you rename objects outside of PowerFlex Manager (such as a VMware ESXi host, volume, datastore, VDS, port group, data center, or cluster), you should run the inventory and update the details for any service that requires the updates.

Add an existing service
  1. Click Services.
  2. Click +Add Existing Service.
Perform PowerFlex node expansion
  1. Click Services.
  2. On the Services page, select a service.
  3. On the Details page, under Resource Actions, expand the Add Resources list and click Node.
The procedure is the same for new services and existing services.
Remove a PowerFlex node
  1. Click Services.
  2. On the Services page, select a service.
  3. On the Service Details page, under Resource Actions, click Remove Resource.
  4. Select the node to remove and click Next.
  5. Select Delete Resource for the Resource removal type.
Enter service mode
  1. Click Services.
  2. On the Services page, select a service.
  3. On the Service Details page, under Service Actions, click Enter Service Mode.
Exit service mode
  1. Click Services.
  2. On the Services page, select a service.
  3. On the Service Details page, under Service Actions, click Exit Service Mode.
Reconfigure MDM roles
  1. Click Services.
  2. On the Services page, select a service.
  3. On the Service Details tab, select a node and click Node Actions > Reconfigure MDM Roles or click Reconfigure MDM Roles under Service Actions.
