Use this procedure to enable the persistent checksum using PowerFlex.

Prerequisites

You will need the following information:

  • IP or hostname of the PowerFlex presentation server
  • Valid credentials for the PowerFlex cluster
  • Names of the protection domains to be worked on
  • Names of the storage pools to be modified

Steps

  1. Log in to PowerFlex with access to the PowerFlex cluster containing the Storage Pool you want to modify.
  2. Expand the Configuration menu in the navigation pane (underneath Dashboard), by left clicking the entry.
  3. Select Storage Pools.
  4. Select the check box to the left of the Storage Pool you plan to modify.
  5. Click More.
  6. Select Background Device Scanner.
  7. Clear Enable Background Device Scanner .
  8. Click Apply.
  9. Click Settings.
  10. Click General.
  11. In the resulting dialog box, leave the box checked for Enable Inflight / Persistent Checksum.
  12. Select one or both of the Inflight and Persistent options.
  13. If wanted, check Validate on read (this validation may incur a performance penalty).
  14. Click Apply.
NOTE The background scanner service should be reenabled automatically once the persistent checksum is disabled. Repeat steps 1 through 6 to determine that the Enable Background Device Scanner to option has been rechecked.
