Dell EMC PowerFlex Appliance Administration Guide

Prerequisites

The following requirements are needed before proceeding with enabling replication:

  • LACP bonded NIC port design
  • PowerFlex node with PowerFlex 3.6
  • PowerFlex hyperconverged node with minimum 2 sockets *12 cores each
  • Journal capacity (sized on delta change rate for each replicated volume)
  • Additional external VLANs for replication must be added (flex-rep1-<vlanid>, flex-rep2-<vlanid>) used for Storage Data Replication (SDR) to SDR communication between source and destination sites for replicating data.
  • At least one protection domain (source and destination)
  • At least one storage pool (source and destination)
  • SDS devices have been added to the appropriate storage pool (source and destination)
  • PowerFlex nodes installed at the source and destination sites with communication between them. (MDM to MDM communication required in addition to external networks)
  • At least one identical size volume on both source and destination sites. The volume at the source site must be mapped and the volume on the destination site is used for replication and must be unmapped.
