Dell EMC PowerFlex Appliance Administration Guide

Jump server

The PowerFlex appliance management environment may include a jump server used to complete routine maintenance and troubleshooting. Remote access is provided using VNC (GUI) and SSH, which is always on. The jump server has an integrated configuration for various file sharing services which can be enabled and disabled as needed. The enable and disable services scripts are located on the desktop.

The VM installation is a relatively minimal installation, but also has Xorg and KDE (a graphical desktop environment). A nonroot account (admin) is provided for use. The admin account does have full administrator escalation privileges (sudo) which must be used in order to perform some tasks (account password is required). All yum repos are disabled or non-existent, to prevent inadvertent, or ad hoc updates from being applied.

NOTE Most maintenance, management, and orchestration operations are still intended to be performed using PowerFlex Manager.
