Install InsightIQ on a Linux computer

1. Log in to a Linux computer as the 'administrator' user with sudo privileges. If you need to create the 'administrator' user, follow these sub-steps:
   1. Log in to a Linux computer through a user account with sudo access or the root user account.
   2. Create a user account with 'administrator' as the name.

      sudo useradd administrator

   3. Create a password for the user.

      sudo passwd administrator

   4. Grant the user membership to a privileged group.

      sudo usermod -aG wheel administrator

   5. Grant the user permission to run any command anywhere by performing the following steps:
      1. Edit the sudoers file:

         sudo vi /etc/sudoers

      2. Under the line ## Allow root to run any commands anywhere, add the following line:

         administrator ALL=(ALL)  ALL

      3. Save the sudoers file.
2. Install InsightIQ by running the following command, where <path> is the file path of the .sh installation script:

   sudo sh <path>

   1. Select how InsightIQ will be installed and press Enter:
      • Option 1 - Offline. InsightIQ will be installed using the bundled packages.
      • Option 2 - Online. InsightIQ will be installed using yum mirrors. (Recommended)

      NOTE Confirm that the correct repos are enabled for your OS version. For more information on enabling repos, see the documentation for your OS.

      NOTE If you use the offline method, we recommend you run the sudo yum update command after InsightIQ is finished installing.
   2. Follow the prompts to complete the installation.
3. For CentOS systems: Enable access to HTTP ports.

   The default firewall settings of CentOS prevent access through ports 80 and 443. To enable access to ports 80 and 443, you can choose either of these options:

   • Disable the firewall:

     sudo systemctl disable firewalld
     sudo systemctl stop firewalld

   • Or, enable these ports without disabling the firewall. For instructions, see the CentOS documentation.

   NOTE Some commands, such as iiq_restart, iiq_start, and iiq_stop, only work when the firewall is disabled.
4. (Optional) If more than one NIC is detected, you will be prompted to select which NIC to use.
   NOTE If a single NIC is detected, that NIC will be selected automatically.
5. Log into the InsightIQ application.
