Restoring in a cluster
When you restore data from a backup of file system data on shared storage in a Windows Server cluster, select the federated cluster client as the client from which to restore. Use the Windows File System plug-in for the restore.
When you restore data from a backup of file system data on shared storage in a Windows Server 2019, 2016, or 2012 for SOFS or SMB cluster, select the proxy cluster client as the client from which to restore. Use the Windows Cluster File Server plug-in for the restore.
When you restore data from a backup of file system data on a local volume of a node, select the node as the client from which to restore. Use the Windows File System plug-in for the restore.
