Manually configure alert destination by accessing the SNMP trap service for a server running Linux operating system
Steps
Log in to the terminal window using root privileges.
Run
rpm -qa | grep snmp, and ensure that the
net-snmp package is installed.
Run
cd /etc/snmp to go to the SNMP directory.
Open
snmpd.conf in the VI editor (vi snmpd.conf).
Search
snmpd.conf for
# group context sec.model sec.level prefix read write notif and ensure that the values for
read,
write, and
notif are set to
all.
At the end of the
snmpd.conf file, before
Further Information, add an entry in the following format:
Trapsink <IP address of the local system> <community string>, for example,
trapsink 10.94.174.190 public.
Run
service snmpd restart to restart the SNMP service.
