Removing heat
sink assembly
NOTE:Depending on the configuration you order, you
may see either of the heat sinks as shown in the
image below.

- Follow the procedure in Before working inside
your computer.
- Remove the:
- cover
- bezel
- hard drive and optical drive module
- To remove the fan duct:
- Pry the retention clips in opposite directions [1].
- Lift and remove the fan duct from the computer [2].
- To remove the heat sink assembly:
- Disconnect the heat sink assembly cable
from the system board [1].
- Loosen the captive screws that secure the
heat sink assembly [2] and lift it away from the computer [3].
