Removing the heatsink assembly

Prerequisites

  1. Follow the procedure in before working inside your computer.
  2. Remove the microSD-card.
  3. Remove the SIM card tray for systems enabled with 4G LTE.
  4. Enter the service mode.
  5. Remove the base cover.

Steps

  1. Peel the tape that secures the antenna cables to the heatsink assembly.
  2. In reverse sequential order, loosen the four captive screws (4->3->2->1) that secure the heatsink assembly to the system board.
  3. Peel the tape that secures the heatsink assembly to the system board.
  4. Lift the heatsink assembly off the system board.
