Installing the hard-disk drive assembly

Prerequisites

If you are replacing a component, remove the existing component before performing the installation procedure.

About this task

The following image indicates the location of the hard-disk drive assembly and provides a visual representation of the installation procedure.

NOTE:The following steps are applicable only for computers that are shipped with a 3-cell battery. You cannot install the 2.5-inch SATA hard-drive on computers with a 4-cell battery.
NOTE:Computers that are shipped with 3-cell battery contain a rubber bumper that must be removed manually before installing the hard-disk drive assembly.

Steps

  1. Align and place the hard-disk drive assembly in the slot on the palmrest assembly.
  2. Tighten the three (M2X4.5) screws to secure the hard-disk drive assembly to the palmrest assembly.
  3. Connect the hard-disk drive cable to the connector on the system board.

Next steps

  1. Install the base cover.
  2. Exit the service mode
  3. Install the SIM card tray for 4G LTE enabled systems.
  4. Install the microSD-card.
  5. Follow the procedure in after working inside your computer.
