Installing the 3-cell battery

Prerequisites

If you are replacing a component, remove the existing component before performing the installation procedure.

About this task

NOTE The following steps are for the systems that are shipped with a 3-cell battery.

NOTE If the battery is disconnected from system board, there is delay during computer boot as the computer undergoes Real Time Clock (RTC) reset.

NOTE The double sided adhesive tapes are reusable.

The following image indicates the location of the 3-cell battery and provides a visual representation of the installation procedure.

Install the battery.

Steps

Align and replace the 3-cell battery into the computer chassis.
Route the battery cable through the routing channels between the system board and 3-cell battery.
Affix the adhesive tapes to secure the 3-cell battery to the computer chassis.
Replace the four screws (M2x3) to secure the 3-cell battery in place.
Connect the battery cable to the system board.
