Procedure

  1. Loosen the captive screw that secures the solid-state drive shield/Intel Optane shield and solid-state drive/Intel Optane to the palm rest and keyboard assembly.
    • NOTE: Solid-state drive shield is available only on computers shipped with NVMe solid-state drive.
  2. In computers shipped with mSATA solid-state drive/Intel Optane, remove the screw (M2x3) that secures the solid-state drive/Intel Optane to the palm rest and keyboard assembly.
  3. Slide the solid-stare drive shield/Intel Optane shield and lift the solid-state drive shield/Intel Optane shield off the palm rest and keyboard assembly.
