PowerProtect Data Manager 19.9 Security Configuration Guide

Get protection engine (VM Direct engine) credentials

The vproxymgmt tool is provided with PowerProtect Data Manager. Use this tool to get credentials for external protection engines, including VM Direct engines, NAS protection engines, and Kubernetes protection engines.

Steps

  1. Connect to the PowerProtect Data Manager console and change to the root user.
  2. Set the environment variables:
    . /opt/emc/vmdirect/unit/vmdirect.env
  3. Obtain the protection engine credentials:
    /opt/emc/vmdirect/bin/vproxymgmt get -secret
    Total '2' vProxies VMs available.
