PowerProtect Data Manager 19.9 File System Agent User Guide

Troubleshooting File System agent update

When you update the File System agent from 19.3 to 19.4 or later version on either Windows or Linux, the required configuration files are copied from the 19.3 installation path to the new installation path for 19.4 or later. In some cases, these files are not copied successfully, which might cause the update to fail. To troubleshoot this issue, complete the following steps.

Prerequisites

NOTE These steps are required only when updating the File System agent from 19.3 or earlier to 19.4 or later.

Steps

  1. Verify that the File System agent 19.3 installation path contains the following configuration files:
    • fsab.rec
    • .app.settings
    • agents.clb
    • agents.clb.FCD

If one or more of these files are not present in the File System agent19.3 installation path, proceed to step 3.

  2. If all the required files are present in the File System agent 19.3 installation path, manually copy the files to the installation path for 19.7:
    • Copy <Install_folder>/dpsfsagent/settings/fsab.rec to <Install_folder>/dpsapps/fsagent/settings/fsab.rec
    • Copy <Install_folder>/dpsfsagent/settings/.app.settings to <Install_folder>/dpsapps/fsagent/settings/.app.settings
    • Copy <Install_folder>/dpsfsagent/lockbox/agents.clb to <Install_folder>/dpsapps/fsagent/lockbox/agents.clb
    • Copy <Install_folder>/dpsfsagent/lockbox/agents.clb.FCD to <Install_folder>/dpsapps/fsagent/lockbox/agents.clb.FCD

where <Install_folder> is the location of the File System agent installation.

  3. If the required files are missing in the installation path for 19.3, perform the following steps to regenerate the files:
    1. Set the lockbox in the PowerProtect Data Manager UI:
      • Go to Protection > Protection Policies.
      • Select the protection policy for the client that is being updated, and click Set Lockbox.
    2. Run the ddfsadmin sync command. Using the ddfsadmin utility for file systems provides more information.
