Update PowerProtect Data Manager to version 19.9 or later in a Kubernetes environment

Use this procedure to update PowerProtect Data Manager to version 19.9 or later.

Steps

  1. If you are not using the cluster-admin role, perform the following actions:
    1. From a PowerProtect Data Manager command line, type the following command:
      kubectl edit clusterrole powerprotect:discovery-clusterrole
    2. Browse for customresourcedefinitions in the rules section, and then add the delete verb. The format for the new verb should match the format of the other verbs. For example:
      resources:
      - customresourcedefinitions
      verbs:
      - create
      - delete
      - get
      - list
      - update
    3. Save the edited file.
    4. Type the following command:
      kubectl edit clusterrole powerprotect:cluster-role
    5. Browse for deployments in the rules section, and then add the patch verb. The format for the new verb should match the format of the other verbs. For example:
      resources:
      - deployments
      - deployments/scale
      verbs:
      - create
      - get
      - patch
      - list
      - update
    6. If your environment includes OpenShift, browse for apiGroups and the existing networking.k8s.io entry, and then add operators.coreos.com and konveyor.openshift.io entries below it that match the following content and format:
      - apiGroups:
        - networking.k8.io
        resources:
        - networkpolicies
        verbs:
        - create
        - delete
        - get
      - apiGroups:
        - operators.coreos.com
        resources:
        - '*'
        verbs:
        - '*'
      - apiGroups:
        - konveyer.openshift.io
        resources:
        - '*'
        verbs:
        - '*'
    7. Save the edited file.
  2. Follow the appropriate PowerProtect Data Manager update procedure from either the PowerProtect Data Manager Administration and User Guide or the PowerProtect Data Manager Deployment Guide.
NOTE If you are not using the cluster-admin role and you have already updated PowerProtect Data Manager without first following step 1, you can correct the update by following step 1, updating PowerProtect Data Manager again, and then following step 3.
  3. From a PowerProtect Data Manager command line, type the following commands:
    cd /usr/local/brs/lib/cndm/misc
    tar -xvzf rbac.tar.gz
    cd rbac
    cat README.txt
