Removing the base cover

Prerequisites

  1. Follow the procedure in Before working inside your computer.

About this task

NOTE:Before removing the base cover, ensure that there is no micro-SD card that is installed in the micro-SD card slot on your computer.

Steps

  1. Remove the two screws (M2.5x5) that secure the base cover to the palm-rest and keyboard assembly.
  2. Loosen the four captive screws (M2.5x5) that secure the base cover to the palm-rest and keyboard assembly.
  3. Pry the base cover from the front-left or front-right corner of the base cover and continue to pry the front side of the base cover.
  4. Lift the front side of the base cover, slide and pull the base cover off the palm-rest and keyboard assembly.
  5. Disconnect the battery cable from the system board.
  6. Press and hold the power button for 20 seconds to ground the computer and drain the flea power.
