Removing the system board
About this task The following image indicates the connectors on your system board.
NOTE This is an image of the system board that supports Intel processors. The cables are also found on the system board that supports AMD processors.
Display cable
Alienhead LED cable
Speaker cable
Audio and ethernet-daughterboard flexible flat cable (FFC)
Power-adapter port cable
Touchpad cable
Keyboard-controller board cable
RGB-IR camera cable
NOTE This applies to devices that are shipped with a hybrid RGB-IR camera module.
Power-button board cable
The following images indicate the location of the system board and provides a visual representation of the removal procedure.
Steps Peel the system board Mylar off the system board.
Remove the two screws (M2x4) that secure the USB Type-C port bracket to the system board.
Remove the USB Type-C port bracket from the system board.
Open the latch, and disconnect the display cable from the system board.
Disconnect the Alienhead LED cable from the system board.
Peel the display cable from the system board.
Disconnect the power-adapter port cable from the system board.
Peel the power-adapter port cable from the system board.
Open the latch, and disconnect the flexible flat cable of the audio and ethernet daughterboard from the system board.
Disconnect the speaker cable from the system board.
Open the latch, and disconnect the touchpad cable from the system board.
Open the latch, and disconnect the keyboard-controller board-cable from the system board.
Open the latch, and disconnect the power-button board cable from the USB board.
Open the latch, and disconnect the RGB-IR camera cable from the USB board.
NOTE This step is applicable for computers that are shipped with a hybrid RGB-IR camera module.
Peel the RGB-IR camera cable from the system board.
NOTE This step is applicable for computers that are shipped with a hybrid RGB-IR camera module.
Remove the
seven
(M2x4) screws that secure the system board to the palm-rest and keyboard assembly.
NOTE The USB board and heat sink are attached to the system board.
CAUTION Before removing the system board, give sufficient time for the heat sink to cool down to avoid injury.
Lift the system-board assembly off the palm-rest and keyboard assembly.
Place the system-board assembly on a clean and flat surface.
Turn the system-board assembly over.
Remove the
USB board .
Remove the
heat-sink assembly .
After performing all the above steps, you are left with the system board.
