Removing the fan

Prerequisites

  1. Follow the procedure in Before working inside your computer.
  2. Remove the base cover.
  3. Remove the wireless card.
  4. Remove the WWAN 4G card or WWAN 5G card, whichever is applicable.

Steps

  1. Note the wireless card antenna cable routing, and remove the antenna cables from the routing guide on the fan.
  2. Remove the coin-cell battery cable from the routing guide on the fan.
  3. Disconnect the fan cable from the connector (FAN1) on the system board.
  4. Remove the three screws (M2x3) that secure the fan to the palm-rest assembly.
  5. Remove the fan from the system board.
