Configuring a Virtual IP Address

To configure a virtual IP address, use the following commands.

  1. Configure a VRRP group.
    INTERFACE mode
    vrrp-group vrrp-id
The VRID range is from 1 to 255.
  2. Configure virtual IP addresses for this VRID.
    INTERFACE -VRID mode
    virtual-address ip-address1 [...ip-address12]
The range is up to 12 addresses.

Examples of the Configuring and Verifying a Virtual IP Address

The following example shows how to configure a virtual IP address.

DellEMC(conf-if-gi-1/1-vrid-111)#virtual-address 10.10.10.1
DellEMC(conf-if-gi-1/1-vrid-111)#virtual-address 10.10.10.2
DellEMC(conf-if-gi-1/1-vrid-111)#virtual-address 10.10.10.3

The following example shows how to verify a virtual IP address configuration.

NOTE In the following example, the primary IP address and the virtual IP addresses are on the same subnet.
DellEMC(conf-if-gi-1/1)#show conf
!
interface GigabitEthernet 1/1
  ip address 10.10.10.1/24
!
vrrp-group 111
  priority 255
  virtual-address 10.10.10.1
  virtual-address 10.10.10.2
  virtual-address 10.10.10.3
!
vrrp-group 222
  no shutdown

The following example shows the same VRRP group (VRID 111) configured on multiple interfaces on different subnets.
