Configuring Contact and Location Information using SNMP

You may configure system contact and location information from the Dell EMC Networking system or from the management station using SNMP.

To configure system contact and location information from the Dell EMC Networking system and from the management station using SNMP, use the following commands.
  • (From a Dell EMC Networking system) Identify the system manager along with this person’s contact information (for example, an email address or phone number).
    CONFIGURATION mode
    snmp-server contact text
    You may use up to 55 characters.
    The default is None.
  • (From a Dell EMC Networking system) Identify the physical location of the system (for example, San Jose, 350 Holger Way, 1st floor lab, rack A1-1).
    CONFIGURATION mode
    snmp-server location text
    You may use up to 55 characters.
    The default is None.
  • (From a management station) Identify the system manager along with this person’s contact information (for example, an email address or phone number).
    CONFIGURATION mode
    snmpset -v version -c community agent-ip sysContact.0 s “contact-info”
    You may use up to 55 characters.
    The default is None.
  • (From a management station) Identify the physical location of the system (for example, San Jose, 350 Holger Way, 1st floor lab, rack A1-1).
    CONFIGURATION mode
    snmpset -v version -c community agent-ip sysLocation.0 s “location-info”
    You may use up to 55 characters.
    The default is None.
