Removing the System Fan

  1. Follow the procedures in Before Working Inside Your Computer .
  2. Remove
    1. cover
    2. optical drive
    3. drive cage
    4. front bezel
  3. Perform the following steps as shown in the illustration:
    1. Press the system-fan cable [1].
    2. Disconnect the system-fan cable from the system board [2].
    3. Unroute the cable from the system board.
    4. Pry and remove the system fan away from the grommets securing it to the front of the computer.
    5. Then press the grommets inward along the slots and pass through the chassis.
