This article provides the steps for changing user account passwords in Dell Data Security Management Server Virtual (formerly Dell Data Protection | Virtual Edition) when the current password is not known. If the current user account password is known, it may instead be changed from the administration console. To reset a built-in password:

  1. Log in to the Dell Security Management Server Virtual administration console using dellsupport

  • The default credentials for Dell Security Management Server Virtual are:
    • Username: dellsupport
    • Password: dellsupport
  • An administrator can change the default password within the product’s virtual appliance menu.
  1. Type sudo passwd [USERID] and then press Enter.

Note: Replace [USERID] with one of the three user accounts for Dell Security Management Server Virtual:
  • delluser
  • dellsupport
  • dellconsole
  1. Populate the new password and then press Enter.

Entering a new password

  1. Confirm the new password and then press Enter.

Retyping a new password

  1. Type exit and then press Enter.

Exiting
