This article provides the latest information regarding the iDRAC System Update feature.
Dell EMC support websites are deprecating support for HTTP protocol in Calendar Year 2020. Moving forward, the online catalogs that are hosted at downloads.dell.com will be restricted to HTTPS and a minimum of TLS 1.2 cryptographic protocol. In Calendar Year 2019, Dell EMC transitioned away from the legacy online repository at ftp dell com. During the migration to downloads.dell.com, support for the FTP protocol from the Dell EMC online repositories was removed.
iDRAC end users that consume the Dell EMC online catalogs for system updates will notice that update jobs will fail when both of these conditions are met:
The iDRAC system update feature will continue to provide support for FTP and HTTP protocols. This allows iDRAC update jobs to continue supporting custom repositories on those file share types.
Dell EMC Engineering recommends that end-users should begin leveraging https protocol from the online repository at downloads.dell.com once minimum highlighted iDRAC releases have been applied to their servers.
