Wireless connection and Bluetooth pairing overview

Wireless and Bluetooth connection takes place between the device or a dongle adapter when attached to the personal computer. Without this process taking place, the device will not function properly with the computer.

Setting up your wireless mouse

Installing the battery on your Mouse

  1. Locate the slot on the side of the mouse cover. Using your fingertip, pry open the mouse cover.

  2. Remove the USB dongle from its compartment.

  3. Install the AA battery into the battery compartment.

  4. Replace the mouse cover.

NOTE: The Mouse is pre-paired to the USB dongle when you first get it.

  1. Connect the Dell Universal USB dongle to the USB port on your computer.

  2. The connection-mode light on the mouse turns on to indicate it has paired and then turns off.

  3. The mouse is paired with your computer.

Pairing your mouse using Bluetooth (Applies to KM7210W, MS3320W, MS5120W, and MS5320W)

NOTE: Ensure that your Bluetooth driver is updated to the latest version. To learn how to update the Bluetooth driver, see Dell Knowledge Base article Download and Install The Latest Wireless Bluetooth Driver.
NOTE: Using Bluetooth, you can pair up to two computers with your wireless mouse.
 
  1. Press the connection-mode button twice on your mouse (within 3 seconds) until the connection-mode light turns on, indicating that the first Bluetooth (2 bluetooth.jpg) connection is selected.

    The connection-mode light blinks for 3 minutes, indicating your mouse is in the pairing mode.

  2. Pair your mouse with your Bluetooth enabled computer:

    1. In Windows Search, type Bluetooth.

    2. Click Bluetooth and other devices settings. The Settings window appears.

    3. Ensure that the Bluetooth is turned on.

    4. From the Other devices section, click Dell Mouse.

    NOTE: If the Mouse is not listed, ensure that the pairing mode is enabled on the mouse.
  3. Confirm the pairing process on both the mouse and your computer.

    The connection-mode light turns solid white for a few seconds to confirm the pairing, and then the light turns off. After your mouse and computer pairing is completed, the mouse connects to the computer automatically. When the Bluetooth is enabled and both devices are within the Bluetooth range.

Pairing with a second Bluetooth computer (Applies to KM7210W, and MS5320W)

NOTE: You can connect a second computer to your wireless mouse using Bluetooth.
 
  1. Press the connection-mode button twice on your mouse (within 3 seconds) until the connection-mode light turns on, indicating that the second Bluetooth (3 bluetooth.jpg) connection is selected.

  2. The second (3 bluetooth.jpg) Bluetooth connection light starts blinking to confirm that the pairing mode is enabled.

  3. Pair your mouse with your Bluetooth enabled computer:

    1. In Windows Search, type Bluetooth.

    2. Click Bluetooth and other devices settings. The Settings window appears.

    3. Ensure that the Bluetooth is turned on.

    4. From the Other devices section, click Dell Mouse.

Pairing with a second Bluetooth computer (Applies to KM7120W)

NOTE: You can connect a second computer to your wireless keyboard using Bluetooth.

Troubleshooting

Problems< Possible causes Possible solutions
Unable to use the mouse and keyboard. The white LED indicator on the top of the mouse does not light up when the mouse is turned on.
  1. Check if the battery is inserted correctly. The battery + and - ends should follow those indicated on the battery compartment label.
  2. Check the battery level.
    • If the mouse uses a rechargeable battery, ensure that the battery is fully charged.
    • If the battery has one.
  3. Turn the mouse and keyboard off, and then turn on again. Check if the battery status light is flashing amber, indicating that the battery power is low. If the battery is fully depleted, the battery-status light will not turn on.
  4. Ensure that the USB dongle is directly connected to your computer. using the port replicators, USB hubs, and so on.
  5. Change the USB port. Insert the USB dongle into another USB port on your computer.
Unable to pair the mouse and keyboard to the computer using Bluetooth. The Bluetooth icon on the computer does not light up when connecting the mouse to the computer.
  1. Check the battery level.
    • If the mouse and keyboard uses a rechargeable battery, ensure that the battery is fully charged.
    • If the battery is one.
  2. Turn the mouse and keyboard off, and then turn it on again. Check if the battery-status light is flashing amber, indicating that the battery power is low. If the battery is fully depleted, the battery-status light will not turn on.
  3. Restart your computer.
  4. Check if the operating system is Windows 10, Windows 8, Chrome, Android.
  5. Ensure that the mouse and keyboard are set to Bluetooth Low Energy (BLE) mode in your computer. For more information, see the documentation that came with your computer.
  6. Turn off then on, and then turn on the Bluetooth. Low Energy (BLE) mode in your computer. For more information, see the documentation that came with your computer.
Mouse pointer does not move.
Left or right buttons do not work.

  1. Check the battery level.
    • If the mouse uses a rechargeable battery, ensure that the battery is fully charged.

  3. Restart your computer.
