LCD BIST Automatically Runs on Inspiron, Vostro, and Latitude Computers After Forced Shutdown During POST

Some Inspiron, Vostro, and Latitude users may experience the LCD Built-In Self-Test (Figure 1) automatically running after the computer was forced to shut down by pressing the power button during startup.

원인
This is due to timing mismatch between Intel Management Engine (ME) and BIOS communication.
The following list of computer models has been reported as having this issue, but other computer models not listed may be affected as well (Table 1):

How to download and install the latest BIOS:
WARNING: Dell recommends disconnecting devices such as external hard drives, printers, scanners, and so on, before updating the BIOS.
WARNING: Dell laptops must have the battery that is installed and charged to at least 10% before you begin the BIOS update. Dell recommends connecting the laptop to AC power before proceeding with the update process.

NOTE: To install the BIOS, your user account must have administrator privileges.
To download and install the latest BIOS for your computer, perform the following steps.
You are given three options to identify your Dell Product.
Touch or click the listing for your computer under THIS PC.
Note: When there is no listing for your computer under THIS PC, you can touch or click Download & Install SupportAssist, which automatically identifies your computer for you. Follow the prompts to download and install SupportAssist. For more information, browse to the Dell SupportAssist for PCs page.
Enter the Service Tag, Dell Product ID, or Model, and then touch or click the Search button and select your computer from the list.
Touch or click Browse all products: You must select the type of device you have, the brand name, and then the product model.
When you get to the product support page for your computer, touch or click the Driver & Downloads tab.
Touch or click Find Drivers.
Under Operating System, select BIOS.
Locate the latest System BIOS.
Click Download and save the file to your computer.
Using File Explorer (also known as Windows Explorer), browse to the location where the downloaded file was saved.
Double-click the BIOS setup file and follow the on-screen instructions to complete the installation process.
