지침

The Integrated Dell Remote Access Controller can provide email alert notifications in addition to IPMI alerts, SNMP traps, and other management notifications for system events. To enable email alerts from the Integrated Dell Remote Access Controller (iDRAC), the recommendation is to:

  1. Configure the iDRAC network settings to enable DNS registration
  2. Enable and configure email alerts
  3. Configure email settings and enable email destinations

This iDRAC email alert notification overview provides the typical configuration for an iDRAC7, iDRAC8 and iDRAC9. More configuration details, options, and descriptions for all iDRAC versions are documented in the iDRAC User's Guide. The steps differ depending on the iDRAC model that is in use. Click the appropriate iDRAC for more information.

To configure email alert notifications for the iDRAC9, Enable DNS Registration, Enable and Configure Email Alerts, and then Configure the Email Settings and Destinations. For more information, click the appropriate process.

Enable DNS Registration

Note: The SMTP email server may require the iDRAC to be registered on DNS for enabling proper identification when receiving an email notification, for example, iDRACName@DomainName.com.
  1. From the iDRAC web interface, go to iDRAC Settings, then Connectivity, then Network, and then Common Settings.
  2. Set Register iDRAC on DNS to Enabled.
  3. Provide a DNS iDRAC Name.
  4. Provide a valid Static DNS Domain Name.
  5. Click Apply.

Configure the Email Settings and Destinations

The iDRAC allows multiple recipients for email notifications. To activate multiple recipients, enter the email address and tick the relevant box in the State column. Recipients can be removed from notifications by clearing the relevant box in the State column.

  1. Configure the SMTP server settings.
    1. In the iDRAC web interface, go to Configuration, then System Settings, and then SMTP (Email) Configuration.
    2. For SMTP (Email) Server Settings provide the following details:
      1. SMTP (Email) Server IP Address or FQDN/DNS Name
      2. Sender Address, Message Subject Prefix, SMTP Port Number
      3. If needed: Enable Authentication, and enter Username and Password
    3. Click Apply.
  2. Configure the destination email:
    1. In the iDRAC web interface, go to Configuration, then System Settings, and then SMTP (Email) Configuration.
    2. Type a valid email address, and check the box in the State column next to it.
    3. Click Apply.
    4. Click Send under Test Email to test the configured email alert settings.
Note: After the iDRAC is upgraded to version 4.00.00.00, you may stop receiving encrypted email alerts from the iDRAC. This happens if the external email server does not support encryption. iDRAC firmware version 4.00.00.00 introduces a user-selectable encryption option and the default protocol is StartTLS. To start receiving email messages again, disable the email encryption by using the following RACADM command: racadm set idrac.RemoteHosts.ConnectionEncryption None
