This article serves as a guide to ensure safe removal of what are considered to be the Customer Replaceable Unit (CRU) parts of a Dell Latitude E5250 notebook system.
(CRUs are the parts of the system that should not need an engineer to remove or replace.)

Removal Instructions

SLN295420_en_US__1icon Note: Be aware that using a large Phillips or Flat Head screwdriver may result in damage to the head of the screws. This would make their removal impossible without speciality tools, that aren't available to our onsite engineers.

  1. Pre-Removal Instructions Before removing the SD Card:

    1. During installation or removal of any hardware always ensure all data is backed up properly.

    2. Disconnect any telephone, network, or USB cables from the computer.

    3. Disconnect the computer and all attached devices from their electrical outlets.

  2. Locate the SD Memory Card slot.

  1. Push SD memory card into the slot and release.

  1. Slide the SD memory card out of the system.

  1. Pre-Removal Instructions Before removing the Bottom Cover:

    1. During installation or removal of any hardware always ensure all data is backed up properly.

    2. Disconnect any telephone, network, or USB cables from the computer.

    3. Disconnect the computer and all attached devices from their electrical outlets.

  2. Establishing Location.

  1. Remove the six screws securing the Bottom Cover in place.

  1. Lift up the top edge of the bottom door.

  1. Remove the bottom cover.

  1. Pre-Removal Instructions Before removing the Battery:

    1. During installation or removal of any hardware always ensure all data is backed up properly.

    2. Disconnect any telephone, network, or USB cables from the computer.

    3. Disconnect the computer and all attached devices from their electrical outlets.

    4. Please remove the SD Card and Bottom Cover.

  2. Establishing Image.

  1. Disconnect the battery connector.

  1. Remove the single screw securing the battery in place.

  1. Remove the battery from the system.

    1. During installation or removal of any hardware always ensure all data is backed up properly.

    2. Disconnect any telephone, network, or USB cables from the computer.

    3. Disconnect the computer and all attached devices from their electrical outlets.

    4. Please remove the SD Card, Bottom Cover and Battery.

  2. Locate Memory modules.

  1. Gently pry the retention clips away from the memory module.

  1. Remove the memory module from the system.

  1. Gently pry the retention clips away from the memory module.

  1. Remove the memory module from the system.

  1. Pre-Removal Instructions Before removing the mSATA Card:

    1. During installation or removal of any hardware always ensure all data is backed up properly.

    2. Disconnect any telephone, network, or USB cables from the computer.

    3. Disconnect the computer and all attached devices from their electrical outlets.

    4. Please remove the SD Card, Bottom Cover and Battery.

  1. Locate the mSATA Drive.

  1. Use the tab to disconnect the mSATA solid state drive (SSD) cable from the system board.

  1. Remove the two screws securing the mSATA SSD.

  1. Lift up and remove the mSATA SSD.

  1. Disconnect the connector from mSATA SSD.

  1. Remove single screw securing the mSATA SSD.

  1. Separate the mSATA SSD from the HDD bracket.

  1. Remove three screws from the top.

  1. Remove the mSATA adapter board.

  1. Pre-Removal Instructions Before removing the Hard Drive:

    1. During installation or removal of any hardware always ensure all data is backed up properly.

    2. Disconnect any telephone, network, or USB cables from the computer.

    3. Disconnect the computer and all attached devices from their electrical outlets.

    4. Please remove the SD Card, Bottom Cover and Battery.

  1. Locate the Hard Drive.

  1. Use the tab to disconnect the Hard Drive (HDD) cable from the system board.

  1. Remove the two screws securing the HDD assembly in place.

  1. Remove the HDD assembly (1). Disconnect and remove the HDD cable (2).

  1. Remove the four screws securing the hard drive bracket in place.

  1. Separate the HDD from the HDD bracket.

  1. Pre-Removal Instructions Before removing the Keyboard Lattice:

    1. During installation or removal of any hardware always ensure all data is backed up properly.

    2. Disconnect any telephone, network, or USB cables from the computer.

    3. Disconnect the computer and all attached devices from their electrical outlets.

  2. Establishing image.

  1. Push the two tabs away from the system to release the top edge of the keyboard lattice. Carefully pry up the top edge of the keyboard lattice.

  1. Work your way around the sides of the keyboard lattice.

  1. Work your way around the bottom edge of the keyboard lattice.

  1. Lift up and remove the keyboard lattice.

  1. Pre-Removal Instructions Before removing the Keyboard:

    1. During installation or removal of any hardware always ensure all data is backed up properly.

    2. Disconnect any telephone, network, or USB cables from the computer.

    3. Disconnect the computer and all attached devices from their electrical outlets.

    4. Please remove the SD Card, Bottom Cover, Battery and Keyboard Lattice.

  2. Establishing image.

  1. Disconnect the keyboard backlight FPC at the bottom of the system.

  1. Disconnect the keyboard FFC.

  1. Turn the system over and remove the five screws securing the keyboard in place.

  1. Carefully lift up the keyboard.

  1. Remove the Keyboard from the system.

  1. Pre-Removal Instructions Before removing the WWAN Card:

    1. During installation or removal of any hardware always ensure all data is backed up properly.

    2. Disconnect any telephone, network, or USB cables from the computer.

    3. Disconnect the computer and all attached devices from their electrical outlets.

    4. Please remove the SD Card, Bottom Cover and Battery.

  2. Establishing image

  1. Disconnect any antennas connected to the WWAN card.

  1. Remove the single screw securing the WWAN card.

  1. Pre-Removal Instructions Before removing the WiFi Card:

    1. During installation or removal of any hardware always ensure all data is backed up properly.

    2. Disconnect any telephone, network, or USB cables from the computer.

    3. Disconnect the computer and all attached devices from their electrical outlets.

    4. Please remove the SD Card, Bottom Cover and Battery.

  2. Locate the Wireless Card.

  1. Remove the tape covering the antenna connectors.

  1. Disconnect any antennae connected to the WLAN card.

  1. Remove the single screw securing the WLAN in place.
