This article explains various speed options available in SFP28 Port in N2200X-ON switch and how to configure the ports
.

Supported Port speed in SFP28 Ports

N2200X-ON Series switch models support 10G and 25G in SFP28 ports.

NOTE:  Starting from version 6.6.3.8 1G speed is also supported.

Unsupported Port Speed in SFP28 Ports

N2200X-ON Series switch models do not support 10Mbps, 100Mbps , 2.5Gbps and 40Gbps  in SFP28 ports.

NOTE:  All four SFP28 ports must be configured to operate at the same speed. A mix of SFP+ and SFP28 transceivers or speeds is not supported on a stack member switch. The switch UI does not enforce this restriction.

Below is a sample set of supported speed settings on ports. In the below examples All the 4 SFP28 ports are having same speed.

This is supported

An example of an unsupported combination. In the below example Port Tw 1/0/3 is 10G and others are 25G.

This is not supported

Port Number Speed
Tw 1/0/1 25G
Tw 1/0/2 25G
Tw 1/0/3 10G
Tw 1/0/4 25G

NOTE:  In a stack, the SFP28 Ports in different stack member switches can have different SFP+ and SFP28 transceivers or speeds.

For example: Below is a set of supported speed combination on ports in a stack of 2 members. Here all the SFP28 ports in a stack member switch have same speed.

This is supported

Port Number Speed
Tw 1/0/1 25G
Tw 1/0/2 25G
Tw 1/0/3 25G
Tw 1/0/4 25G
Tw 2/ 0/1 10G
Tw 2/ 0/2 10G
Tw 2/ 0/3 10G
Tw 2/ 0/4 10G

Below is an example of an unsupported combination in a stack of 2 member switches. Port Tw 1/0/3 is having speed 10G and other interfaces in member 1 is having 25G is not supported.
Likewise port Tw 2/0/1 on member 2 is 25G and other ports in member 2 are having 10G.

This is not supported

Port Number Speed
Tw 1/0/1 25G
Tw 1/0/2 25G
Tw 1/0/3 10G
Tw 1/0/4 25G
Tw 2/ 0/1 25G
Tw 2/ 0/2 10G
Tw 2/ 0/3 10G
Tw 2/ 0/4 10G

Configuration Syntax

We can change the speed of individual SFP28 Ports, however, ensure that all SFP28 ports are configured to operate at the same speed.
We can use interface range command to configure all the SFP28 ports in a stack member switch.

Switch Commands

Description

Console#Configure

To enter into switch configuration mode

Console(config)#interface twentyfivegigabitethernet X/0/X

Enter physical Interface Configuration mode for the specified interface.

Console(config)#interface range twentyfivegigabitethernet X/0/1-4

Enter physical Interface Configuration mode for a range of interface.

Console(config-if)#speed <10000/2500/10000>

Enable the port for 10/25/1 Gbps operation

Sample Configuration

Console# configure
Console(config)#interface range twentyfivegigabitethernet 1/0/1-4

Console(config-if)#speed 10000
Ensure all the 25G ports are configured at the same speed.
Auto-negotiation has been disabled for interface(s): Tw1/0/1-4
Auto-negotiation should be enabled for copper ports at any speed and is required for copper ports running at 1G or higher speeds per IEEE 802.3.
Auto-negotiation must be disabled on 10G fiber or higher speeds ports. Fiber ports must be configured for full duplex.
