This article provides how to shutdown/start your Dell Compellent series storage system (controller) from Dell Storage Manager.
Log in to Dell Storage Manager.
Click Actions at the right top corner.
Select System→Shutdown / Restart from the displayed menu.
On the Shutdown/restart window, select Shutdown from the "What do you need to do on the Storage Center?" pull-down menu and click OK.
The storage system is now shutdown. Wait for about 2 minutes.
When the storage system shutdown completed, turn off the power switches on the left and right of the rear of storage system.
If the disk expansion chassis is connected, turn off the power switches on the left and right of the rear of expansion chassis as well.
Turn on the power switches if you need to start the storage system.
Open Dell Storage Manager and check if you can log in to the storage system.
If you are unable to log in, wait for about 30 minutes, open Dell Storage Manager again to log in to the storage system.
Check if the storage system is started and start the server.
