手順

Article summary: This article explains how to set up management for the X1000 and X4000 series switches

The default mode for the X1008/X1008P, X1018/X1018P, X1026/X1026P is unmanaged mode.

Managed mode

Note: The X1052, X1052P, or X4012 switch models do not have an Unmanaged mode, skip this step and start with Connecting to the Device section below.

1.  Turn on the switch. If the Mgmt LED is off, then the switch is in Unmanaged mode and needs to be swapped to Managed mode to continue. If the Mgmt LED is green, the switch is already in Managed mode.
2.  Hold the MODE button for at least 7 seconds. The device will reboot and turn on in Managed mode.

Note: If at any time during configuration, you wish to turn the switch back to default configuration in Managed mode, just hold the RESET button for at least 7 seconds. The switch will reboot with a default Managed mode configuration.

Note: If you wish to go back to an unmanaged mode, hold the MODE button for at least 7 seconds. The switch will reboot and startup in unmanaged mode

Connecting to the Device

  1. Power on the switch while it is disconnected from your Network
  2. Connect a workstation to the switch using Ethernet, and configure a static IP address of 192.168.2.10 on the workstation, with a subnet mask of 255.255.255.0
  3. Open a web browser and type 192.168.2.1 in the address bar, press Enter
  4. Log in to the switch with the username admin and password admin
  5. After logging into the switch for the first time, a startup wizard will guide you through basic management configuration of the switch. Applied changes are automatically saved to the startup configuration.

HOW10782_en_US__1icon The same default behavior occurs if the switch is set up for DHCP and the DHCP server is unreachable. If the DHCP server is not accessible, the switch uses the default IP address 192.168.2.1.

Startup Wizard

The starup wizard allows you to configure these options. Not all are required.
  • IP address
  • Subnet Mask
  • Default Gateway
  • Username and Password
  • Hostname
  • Device Location
  • Device Contact
  • SNMP
Best practices include setting a Static IP address, and a new username and password. If managing the device from another network, the switch will need a Default Gateway just like a client. Once finished, the switch will apply all changes to the running configuration and startup configuration.

The switch is now set up for basic management, including IP address, and user credentials.
