Removal Instructions

Required tools

1 Small Phillips head screwdriver 2 Plastic Scribe
3 Small flat head screwdriver    
 
Note: Using a large Phillips or flat head screwdriver may result in damage to the head of the screws. This would make their removal impossible without specialty tools that are not available to our onsite engineers.

 

  1. Pre-removal instructions before removing the base cover:

    1. During installation or removal of any hardware, always ensure that all data is backed up properly.

    2. Disconnect any telephone, network, or USB cables from the computer.

    3. Disconnect the computer and all attached devices from their electrical outlets.

  2. Turning the system over on its lid, loosen the seven captive screws holding the base cover to the chassis [1] and using a plastic scribe pry along the seam at the rear of the system [2], then follow the seam around the cover.

  1. Lift the cover up at the rear and lift away from the system.

  1. Pre-removal instructions before removing the battery:

    1. During installation or removal of any hardware, always ensure that all data is backed up properly.

    2. Disconnect any telephone, network, or USB cables from the computer.

    3. Disconnect the computer and all attached devices from their electrical outlets.

    4. Remove the Base Cover.

  2. Disconnect the battery cable from the motherboard [1] and remove the three screws that secure the battery to the chassis. Peel off the adhesive tape [3] and lift the battery from the adhesive beneath it [4].

  1. Lift the battery up and out of the system.

  1. Pre-removal instructions before removing the keyboard:

    1. During installation or removal of any hardware, always ensure that all data is backed up properly.

    2. Disconnect any telephone, network, or USB cables from the computer.

    3. Disconnect the computer and all attached devices from their electrical outlets.

    4. Remove the Base Cover and Battery.

  2. Disconnect the keyboard cable from the motherboard [1] and push down on the two release holes using a plastic scribe to loosen the keyboard [2].

  1. With the system sitting on its base, using a plastic scribe, pry up at the bottom edge of the keyboard [1].

  1. Pull the keyboard towards the palm rest to lift away from the system [2].

  1. Pre-removal instructions before removing the Solid State Drive (SSD):

    1. During installation or removal of any hardware, always ensure that all data is backed up properly.

    2. Disconnect any telephone, network, or USB cables from the computer.

    3. Disconnect the computer and all attached devices from their electrical outlets.

    4. Remove the Base Cover and Battery.

  2. Remove the single screw that secures the SSD card down [1]. When the SSD pops up, lift the SSD card out of the connector [2].

  1. Pre-removal instructions before removing the coin-cell battery:

    1. During installation or removal of any hardware, always ensure that all data is backed up properly.

    2. Disconnect any telephone, network, or USB cables from the computer.

    3. Disconnect the computer and all attached devices from their electrical outlets.

    4. Remove the Base Cover and Battery.

  2. With the system on its lid, disconnect the coin cell connector from the motherboard [1].

  1. Pry the battery away from the adhesive that holds it to the chassis.
