Removal Instructions

 

 

Required Tools

1 Small Phillip's head screwdriver 2 Plastic Scribe
3 Small Flat head screwdriver    
 
Note: Be aware that using a large Phillips or Flat Head screwdriver may result in damage to the head of the screws. This would make their removal impossible without specialty tools, that are not available to our onsite engineers.

 

  1. Pre-Removal instructions before removing the Base Cover:

    1. During installation or removal of any hardware always ensures that all data is backed up properly.

    2. Disconnect any telephone, network, or USB cables from the computer.

    3. Disconnect the computer and all attached devices from their electrical outlets.

  2. Turn the closed system upside down and Loosen the eight (8) captive screws in the base.

  1. Using something non-metallic, pry the base cover starting from the hinges and work clockwise around the cover to release it from the chassis.

  1. Lift the cover away from the system.

Note: After you reassemble and power on you computer, it prompts for the Real Time Clock (RTC) reset. When the RTC reset cycle occurs, the computer restarts several times and then an error message is displayed – Time of day not set. Set the date and time in the BIOS when you see this error to resume normal functionality.

 

  1. Pre-Removal instructions before removing the Memory:

    1. During installation or removal of any hardware always ensures that all data is backed up properly.

    2. Disconnect any telephone, network, or USB cables from the computer.

    3. Disconnect the computer and all attached devices from their electrical outlets.

    4. Remove the Base Cover.

  2. The memory is located under the heatsink pipe in the centre of the system. Pull the metal securing clips either side of the memory DIMM to have the memory pop up at an angle to the connector.

Memory

  1. Pull the memory DIMM out of the connector and the system.

Note: Repeat steps 2 and 3 for any additional memory installed.

 

  1. Pre-Removal instructions before removing the M.2 Solid State Drive (SSD):

    1. During installation or removal of any hardware always ensures that all data is backed up properly.

    2. Disconnect any telephone, network, or USB cables from the computer.

    3. Disconnect the computer and all attached devices from their electrical outlets.

    4. Remove the Base Cover.

  1. The M.2 SSD 2280 card slot is located between the battery and the memory on the left-hand side of the chassis. Remove the single screw securing the end of the card to the chassis.

  1. The 2280 card will pop up at an angle from the motherboard. Grip the card and pull it out of the connector and the system.

  1. The M.2 SSD 2230 card slot is located between the battery and the memory of the right-hand side of the chassis. Remove the single screw securing the end of the card to the chassis.

  1. The 2230 card will pop up at an angle from the motherboard. Grip the card and pull it out of the connector and the system.

  1. Using a non-metallic tool, pry up the M.2 2230 SSD holder from the screw hole on the system board.

  1. Pre-Removal instructions before removing the Wireless (WLAN) WiFi Card:

    1. During installation or removal of any hardware always ensures that all data is backed up properly.

    2. Disconnect any telephone, network, or USB cables from the computer.

    3. Disconnect the computer and all attached devices from their electrical outlets.

    4. Remove the Base Cover.

  2. The Wireless WiFi Card is located above the left-hand side corner of the memory. Loosen the single captive screw that secures the end of the WLAN card to the motherboard. Remove the securing bracket from the system.

  1. Disconnect the antenna cables from the card. (These are pop stud connectors and lift off with a little pressure.) With the WLAN card sitting up at an angle, pull the card out of the connector and the system.

  1. Pre-Removal instructions before removing the Wireless Cellular WWAN Card:

    1. During installation or removal of any hardware always ensures that all data is backed up properly.

    2. Disconnect any telephone, network, or USB cables from the computer.

    3. Disconnect the computer and all attached devices from their electrical outlets.

    4. Remove the Base Cover.

  2. The Wireless Cellular Card is located above the left-hand side corner of the memory. Loosen the single captive screw that secures the end of the WWAN card to the motherboard. Remove the securing bracket from the system.

  1. Disconnect the antenna cables from the card. (These are pop stud connectors and lift off with a little pressure.) With the WWAN card sitting up at an angle, pull the card out of the connector and the system.

  1. Pre-Removal instructions before removing the microSD Card:

    1. During installation or removal of any hardware always ensures that all data is backed up properly.

    2. Disconnect any telephone, network, or USB cables from the computer.

    3. Disconnect the computer and all attached devices from their electrical outlets.

  2. Push on the microSD card to have it pop out of the right-hand side edge of the system.

  1. Grip the card and pull it out of the computer.

 

  1. Pre-Removal instructions before removing the SIM Card Tray:

    1. During installation or removal of any hardware always ensures that all data is backed up properly.

    2. Disconnect any telephone, network, or USB cables from the computer.

  2. When you look at the system from the rear, the SIM Card slot is on the rear of the system beside the right-hand hinge. Insert a SIM removal tool or pin into the hole in the SIM card tray. The tray will pop out enough for you to grip the tray and pull it out of the computer.
