  • For Windows 11
    1. In the search box at the bottom of the window, type, settings.
    2. In the search results listed, touch, or click Settings (App).
    3. Touch or click Display.
    4. Touch or click the down arrow to the right of Brightness.
    5. Using the drop-down menu to the right of Change brightness based on content, select Off.
      Now you can manually adjust the brightness by using the slider to the right of Adjust the brightness of the built-in display.
      NOTE: Some laptops do not support this feature, and the option is not available.
    6. Close the Display window.

  • For Windows 10
    1. Press and hold the Windows (Windows Key) key, and then press the q key.
    2. In the search box, type settings.
    3. In the search results listed, touch, or click Settings (App).
    4. Touch or click System.
    5. On the display screen, ensure the box next to Change brightness automacciaclly when lighting changes is cleared.
      Now you can manually adjust the brightness by using the slider under Change the brightness for the built-in display.
      NOTE: Some laptops do not support this feature, and the option is not available.
    6. Close the Display window.

  • For Windows 8(8.1)
    If you are using the Windows Modern User Interface (MUI):
    1. Slide in from the right and touch Settings.
    2. Touch Change PC settings.
    3. On the PC Settings window, touch PC and devices.
    4. Touch power and sleep.
    5. There is a brightness toggle slider at the top of the screen. Slide the toggle slider to the Off position to disable adaptive brightness.
    6. Close the PC and devices window.

    If you are using a legacy Windows desktop:
    1. Press and hold the Windows (Windows Key) key, and then press the q key.
    2. In the search box, type settings.
    3. In the search results listed, touch, or click PC settings.
    4. On the PC Settings window, touch PC and devices.
    5. Touch power and sleep.
    6. There is a brightness toggle slider at the top of the screen. Slide the toggle slider to the Off position to disable adaptive brightness.
    7. Close the PC and devices window.
