Dell Proximity Sensor information

The Dell Proximity Sensor application supports the auto-run feature only when the application stays in the system tray. Once you exit the Dell Proximity Sensor application, you have to re-launch the application and enable the feature manually.

The default setting of the Near and Away state in the Dell Proximity Sensor application is ON when you first boot the Latitude 7400 2-in-1. The default setting of the Near and Away state in the Dell Proximity Sensor application is OFF if the application is being closed and re-launched.

Exit and launch the Dell Proximity Sensor

How to exit the Dell Proximity Sensor:

  1. Right-click the Dell Proximity Sensor application in the Windows system tray
  2. Click Quit to exit the application (Figure 1):

How to launch the Dell Proximity Sensor and enable the Proximity feature:

  1. Go to Start, select Settings  > System > Power & sleep > Dell Proximity Sensor
  2. Click Change PC behavior based on your proximity to the PC to launch the Dell Proximity Sensor application(Figure 2):

  3. Switch the radio button of Near from OFF to ON (Figure 3):

  • Switch the radio button of Away from OFF to ON (Figure 4):

  • When Away is turned ON, the Lock Timer is Enabled. This determines the time to lock the screen when the user is away (Figure 5):
