Symptoms

  • Geo replication may not work properly. It has been observed at some sites, Recovery Point Objective (RPO) backlog existed for more than 9 days. Recovery Point Objective (RPO) means the point in time in the past to which we can recover.
  • The value is the oldest data at risk of being lost if a local VDC fails before replication is complete.
  • We can check for RPO using ECS User Interface (UI). Click  Monitor > Geo Replication > RPO tab, to see more geo-replication metrics

Cause

  • Data sync (replication) issues between Federated VDCs can be exhibited. 
  • VDCs with different ECS major versions may be incompatible.

Resolution

  • User's should take precautions while adding remote Virtual Data Centers (VDCs) to ensure the ECS major versions of the remote VDC matches to the ECS major version of local VDC.
  • In scenarios where Virtual Data Centers (VDC) are already added with different versions, we must avoid creating Replication Groups with mismatched versions between VDCs.
  • Confirm VDCs are on the same version by using ECS User Interface (UI) click Settings > About this VDC.
